There has been a tremendous amount of research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) regarding fire behavior, which has led to many changes over the years in both strategy and tactics during fireground operations.
Reflect on a change in firefighting strategy or tactics that you are familiar with or have seen applied during your career. Explain what specific research or information led to this change and the effect it had on fireground operations or safety. Additionally, identify one specific area you would like to see more firefighting research, and explain why.

I am a new fire fighter(less than one years experinece) but a couple changes that i am aware of is that we all wear fire fighting hoods now to protect our heads and neck from getting burnt when going into fire and my department is switching from combination nozzles with the pistol grip to smooth bore nozzles no pistol grip.
