2. CO7P00 Assessment Brief
The Masters Project is a research activity undertaken by all Masters students. The programme provides the opportunity to develop research skills and to explore one particular topic to a greater depth than would normally be possible during lectures. It is rated as 60 credits.
It is important to note that any research project is time-consuming and often takes far longer than anticipated. The key to any successful research programme is careful planning and it is essential that a disciplined approach be adopted in this programme.
Each student is required to develop an appropriate research programme in collaboration with an individual supervisor and get it approved by your course leader and your module leader
3.Format of the Submission
Writing a dissertation often takes longer than expected, so it is important to allocate enough time for it. It is a good idea to write different parts of the report as you go along in your work schedule. This makes the final writing task easier, even though you might need to make some changes before including them in your final dissertation. Your final report should be well organised so that readers can easily understand your research, particularly how you addressed the problem and your conclusions. It’s also a good practice to check the format used for dissertations and theses in the university library and other educational institutions. Generally, an indicative structure of a good dissertation should include the following elements, but this is not the only acceptable format:
- Title Page
- Author’s declaration
- Abstract
- Dedication
- Acknowledgements
- Table of Contents
- List of Tables
- List of Figures (or illustrations)
- List of Abbreviations/ Definitions/Glossary of Terms
- Chapter One: Introduction (background, justification for and novelty of this research, aim and objectives of the research, outline of the methodology, structure of dissertation )
- Chapter Two: Literature Review
- Chapter Three: Methodology (research design, data collection and data analysis methods)
- Chapter Four: Research Findings
- Chapter Five: Discussion of findings
- Chapter Six: Conclusions and recommendation, research limitations, and directions for future research
- List of References
- Appendices

4.Submitting Your Work
The dissertation should include the cover page, table of contents, references list, and all the other main elements presented in Section 3. Please use MS Word in Arial font size 12/1.5 spaced, and include page numbers. The word limit is 10000 words and this is exclusive of references. The deadline is Wednesday 17 September 2025 at 15:00, and you should use the link located in Weblearn to upload your dissertation document in MS word version only.
