MSM7043 Task/Assessment Brief: The first assessment requires you to reflect on your development consequent to your attendance of the module sessions

MSM7043 Professional Development, Practice and Performance Assessment Brief 2024-25 | CMU

MSM7043 Task/Assessment Brief:

The first assessment requires you to reflect on your development consequent to your attendance of the module sessions and the completion of independent guided learning activities of the first six weeks. To accomplish this, during week one (in the first Workshop), you need to complete a self-assessment to identify the skills that you currently have and the skills that you need to improve upon. You should consider the skills you need to acquire for the postgraduate studies and reflect upon the improvement you have made in the first six weeks. Please consider how you have developed and what actions you will take as a result to aid your future development. This is an evidence-based assessment. Your workshop tutors will check your progress weekly in class. A checklist will be provided separately. You will also be required to record your progress weekly in various forms and formats, for example, lecture notes, diary, mind map, video, screenshot, blog, VLOG, photo, etc. You are encouraged to be creative. Evidence should be used to support your reflection and be linked to what you have written/reflected upon in the main body of your reflection. Evidence must be verified by your tutor and provided in the appendix to secure a passing mark. Your reflection should be structured according to themes, for example, skills, or structured in chronological weekly order. Reflection should make appropriate references to reflective theories. Learning resources on reflective learning and writing will be provided on Moodle. You will need to know how to use them as a tool. However, you are not required to provide a review of these theories. Please DO NOT use these models to structure your assessment. You are reminded that this is an academic assessment. It must be original and meet postgraduate standards. It must be Harvard-referenced by the university regulations.

Other skills/attributes Developed

This includes elements of the Cardiff Met EDGE (Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills) and other attributes developed in students through the completion of the module and assessment. These will also be highlighted in the module guidance, which should be read by all students completing the module. Assessments are not just a way of auditing student knowledge. They are a process that provides additional learning and development through the preparation for and completion of the assessment. This module will provide students with the tools, techniques and competencies to enhance their academic learning, professional and personal development. This module is designed to enhance a wide range of transferable skills, such as critical self-awareness and self-management. There is also the opportunity within this module to develop a wide range of soft skills, recognise the importance of diversity, and the need for empathy. Cardiff Met EDGE (Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills) is the focus of this module, and students can develop these skills through the completion of the module and assessments.
